The SA Maritime Museum is down at Port Adelaide, a short trip by bus or train from the Adelaide CBD, the area itself is worth a day trip.

The Museum is in an old building in a back street but easy to find via the local information centre & sign posts from the main streets.

There is an old trading boat in the middle of the building that is great to have a look around on was also a good place to abandon kids by the look of it. Only one way on & off.

The museum has some interactive displays & a cool collection of pirate history.

They cover the history of the Royal Australian Navy & the large part the waterfront has played in the history of Adelaide.

For me the best part was the basement displays of all the different cabins on the ship that brought people to South Australia.

As part of the entry ticket you can go down to the water front & climb the big red light house. It gets cramped towards the top but the view from the platform is worth it.
